Cassava
The cassava is an important source of dietary carbohydrates in the tropical and subtropical areas of the world, with its roots providing food for over 500 million people. The cassava plant can be cultivated in shifting systems which enables a flexible harvest. Furthermore it is resistant to locust attacks and drought. Nigeria and other West African countries are large producers of cassava.

Cocoa
Cocoa demand as with many crops, is far exceeding its supply. As a result of this prices have increasing by up to 50% on the previous year, as a direct result of poor crop yield. The top five producing nations account for approximately 70% of global production with 4 of the 5 located in Africa. Demand for Cocoa is set to remain high over the coming seasons, the commodities price will remain high. One of the key reasons for shortfalls in supply is the susceptibility to disease and insect pests.

Alderelm provide a range of products to treat and prevent pests and diseases that may affect your crops. Please see our
Herbicides, Insecticides, Fungicides and Sprayers pages for more information.

Rice
Rice is largely considered as the most important staple food for a large part of the world's population, especially throughout Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.

As with all crops, once the supply does not meet the demand, prices increase.

Alderelm's range of products help to ensure a maximum yield is achieved and our customers benefit financially as a result of this. From the initial stages of ground clearance our
